The outside layer of polyester is built up from a gel-coat that can be compared with our own skin. This is a thin layer, usually between 0.8 and 1.4 mm thick, that contains the colour and protects the polyester. This outside layer is always exposed to the atmosphere, acid rain and sunlight, with the result that the gel-coat begins to oxidise, a process that starts as soon as the product leaves the factory.
The best solution to this problem is to clean, polish and wax the surface so that oxidation has no chance and your expensive investment can keep its attractive appearance. |
